About Who picks up

A directory of local service businesses, one page per neighborhood and service, built to answer one question: who should I call, right now, near me?

Where the listings come from

Every business on this site is a real Google Business Profile listing, pulled through a licensed data provider (DataForSEO). We keep the name, rating, review count, phone number, website, address or service area, hours, and the topics reviewers mention most. We do not edit, add, or remove businesses by hand, and nobody pays to be listed or to rank.

How pages are ranked

Listings with a rating of 4.5 or better and at least 10 reviews come first, then 4.0 with at least 5, then everyone else — within each group, by review count. Storefronts count for a neighborhood if they are within that neighborhood's radius; businesses with no storefront count if they are based anywhere in the city, because they drive to you.

"Who picks up"

The one thing no directory tells you is whether anyone answers the phone. We are calling each listed business and recording who picks up, how fast, and whether they quote a price up front. That column appears on pages as the calls are made. Until then, the advice on every page is the honest one: call the top listing, and if nobody answers, call the next.
